CPQ/Networking article #14

[This was previously posted but, now that I've posted
all these CPQ networking articles, I thought I would
repost a snippet of this prior news...notice who is and
who is not included among the "partners"]:

(COMTEX) ASCEND: Ascend partners with microsoft's new NetOp Partner S ASCEND: Ascend partners with microsoft's new NetOp Partner Solutions Center NOV 12, 1997, M2 Communications - Ascend Communications, Inc., (NASDAQ:ASND) today announced that it is a partner in the new Microsoft NetOp Partner Solutions Center (NPSC) created by the Internet Customer Unit at Microsoft's Redmond,Wash., headquarters. The NPSC provides a multiple-vendor environment that, facilitates the development and rapid deployment of turnkey large-scale public network solutions for network operators. "The Microsoft NetOps Partner Solutions Center is a completely new -- and much needed -- way of creating and selling large, complex networking systems," said Mory Ejabat, president and chief executive officer of Ascend. "Until now, Ascend customers have had to buy all the pieces of their Internet POPs or intranets separately and then attempt the difficult task of packaging them into one system. The NPSC makes the task much easier; experts from each strategic partner, including Ascend, will work with customers to create fully integrated systems designed to meet their specific needs. We also expect that the NPSC will stimulate the kind of constructive feedback, from customers as well as from the other partners, that Ascend can use in developing its market-leading products." ...

In addition, the NPSC showcases products and services from other partners, including Digital Equipment Corporation, Lucent Technologies, Compaq Computer Corporation, NEC, WorldCom, and UUNET Technologies. Each strategic partner has experts on-site at the NPSC who can help customers develop and test turnkey end-to-end Internet, intranet, and extranet systems.
