Palin's selection As I indicated, there are election considerations and there are "ready to be President" considerations. Cheney likes Palin but thinks she was not really ready to be President (but could help the campaign which is different). There are many people that think that the VP pick has not had a big impact on any election in 50 years. The last significant election help from a VP might have been LBJ helping Kennedy take Texas in 1960 (long ago).
