Ah, the good old days of small government.

It's pretty easy to show examples of large governments today where child labor is still common. Technology and the free market is what allowed our economy to move away from child labor, not big government. To equate the living conditions of today with those of 100 years ago and credit only to the size of the government is facile at best.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have. Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.€Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." Thomas Jefferson
