DMG also player in 150 million convertible debenture issue with a conversion rate of $35.50. If they were short the stock as a hedge position, this may have been an opportunity to force price down on short term to cover!! The edgar filing is an interesting read

in 1997 it went from the 24 to 48 by end of january
