PC magazine predicts that DVD will be on a majority of PC's in a review of home PCs.

DVD drives were on four of the high-end systems. It looks as if the DVD drive market, already into its second generation (the first couldn't reliably read CD-R disks), is due for another iteration early next year. A year from now, the cost delta between DVD and CD drives will be less significant and DVD drives will be on the majority of PCs.
