Who would even act as the voice of religious authority? Which of the 35,000 sects? Would you hang homosexuals? Or sentence them to therapy? Or just leave them alone? Religion being a collection of contradictory passages based on myth and hermeneutics (and generally beginning and continuing with strong racial and nationalistic prejudice)--what possible value could it have in terms of regulating or informing case law?

Basically, advocates of such nonsense are claiming that supernatural voices (as interpreted by which charlatan?) are to be the arbiters of justice. So who do we stone to death and for what imaginary crimes (wearing high heels, gathering firewood, saying Jesus H. Christ in public) shall such "justice" be meted out?

Yes! Please do keep "religious-based reasoning" (what an oxymoron!) out of our social contract. -g-
