NOK needs everything to go right from here to generate continuing support for what you describe as "their right hand waving" while avoid doing anything that has the market shift focus, instead, to noting what their left hand is doing... And, if things don't work out and the share price collapses again... well, hey, they can always hand out piles more in options for insiders from an even lower base in share prices... which seems likely, to me. A whiff on the product launch... which looks baked in, to me, purely as a reality in the logistics as they continue their efforts in downsizing... and there may well be a market debacle that occurs when the optimism we see now proves unfounded... as I believe is true... I think they've ALREADY blown the product launch... as beating Apple to the punch in presenting a new product with the unknowns the new line will have in terms of "market acceptance" tied to OS and design issues... only more if it doesn't meet market expectations being set by the capability in the 808... isn't close to the same thing as beating them in sales (and PROFIT... isn't that really THE POINT) on the new line being "unveiled"... Bad news lurking already, in what looks like NOK walking back expectations that the "launch" in September isn't going to be a real product "launch" as much as it is a product concept introduction... I think it's easily possible that their effort this fall will have them "doing OK"... perhaps even arresting the precipitous decline in market position... at a massive cost... But, that's not what the market is looking for... expecting a "leveling off" that has them continuing to lose money... So, given my focus tends to be one that has me persistent in looking for "value" at major bottoms... ? The market behavior I see now... isn't what I typically see in shares that are hitting rock bottom, as even their most ardent promoters have to throw in the towel and admit to being "somewhat disappointed" by the performance... I'm not following NOK because I'm looking for short term trading opportunities... rather than "seismic shifts" in the market that generate long term trends. If NOK looks set to reverse its prior fortunes, so that it might be capable of making the chart of the next few years looking like an inversion of the chart of the last few years... that will be something I find interesting. NOK might turn things around enough to deliver something like that... in the future... I just don't think we're there yet... With a whiff this fall... which I expect will be recognizable as anything less than "knocking the cover off it"... we should probably look to see NOK continue prior patterns... By February or March we should probably begin to see the real impact of the holiday sales... or the lack of them... and, realistically, a lot of what happens in that context and time frame might turn out to be far more dependent not just on the quality of the effort we see made by their competition, but on larger issues in the markets that are things over which NOK has no control... Are we going to see holiday sales that break records ? Or, something different than that ? If Europe continues to fall apart, as it appears to be doing on the current trend... and the politicians mismanage the 'fiscal cliff' issues in the U.S.... ? Maybe by next April/May/June we'll be seeing yet another step decline by 50% or more... right on time... I'm not in a hurry to make my evaluation of the outcome of the market competition, here...
