" I'm betting on the latter because most of the money is controlled by professionals who know that most of the value in any stock comes from long term earnings growth."

Skeptic,

Please do tell us which fund so we can check it out and see the stellar performance? Most "professionals" can't beat SP-500. But maybe yours is different.

Skeptic,

If you are correct, cash will also not be a safe haven. Currency will not be a stable commodity. Very likely rampant inflation will occur as scarce commodities become expensive. Bonds which are among the basic investments for money market instruments will have little or no staying power because the blue chip companies in which they are invested will not be solvent. Real estate, the prime basis of all wealth will be devalued due to lack of capital to maintain it's market.

Yes, you can go on and on with this scenario. If one were to carry it to it's logical ending, only barter commodities and the ability to defend them will be of any value.
It all depends on how much faith you have in society's ability to cope with the (just in time) way of living to which we have become accustomed. I personally believe that we can rise to the demand because of the rally to arms of companies like TOPRO. It is in our heritage to meet crisis headon and triumph.

Best Wishes and good luck in your investments,

Gerry
