I bought my first house at 11.?? % three year term (terms vary in Canada).. and after three years renewed for 12.85 I think it was.. 12.nn something.. Interest rates alone are one small fraction of the main attraction IMO.. more to due with fiscal responsibility.. We had no problem.. bought withing our means.. and we took advantage of CMHC for first term.. afterward we had already added enough equity to not require it..
