Tavros: Both similar and non-related industry stocks are also down.

After searching my inner thoughts about Nextel and the delema that the stock seems to be in now, I needed to find an answer to my seemingly bad timing in buying into Nextel.

After scanning the Nastaq market place it was evident that most stocks, related and non-related, were suffering from end of year blues. Only the blue chip and currently popular stocks like Dell and Microsoft were up. After scanning the different market sectors, Oil drilling was drown, communications was down, medical was down, even some retail was down. Look at the activity, the market is in the doldrums as a whole.

The only answer that I can accept, is the market is down, and there is nothing wrong with Nextel or it's product. My cellular phone with Pac Bell is terrable, my previous phone with LA cellular was terrable. Circut busy is common, everywhere, on every system.

Keep the faith

Regards:

faithful Al

Tavros: When I doubted Nextel, the stock shot up to 32. Who knows?

About 300-400 posts back, when I joined SI, I had already bought 2000 sh. of Nextel. Then, I started reading the financials and discovered that, to an accountant, the company does not look good. To someone educated about the communication industry, the company looks terrific. This company will revolutionize the whole concept of wireless communication, right?

I spoke my concers about the financials, the rapid growth, the expansion into Brazil. I was stomped on, kicked, reprimanded, threatened, and called a fool. Useing hindsight, I was wrong. The bad looking financials don't mean anything, the static or system busy signals don't mean anything, none of these things influence this market. Emotion influences the market. Right now the public is not bullish and only the highly touted stocks are getting attention.
Japan markets don't look good, Asia is in trouble, Sadam is playing games with the UN inspectors, Hong Kong is irrational, this is what is affecting our favorite company. It is also affecting almost all of the companies on the Nasdaq.

Regards again:

affected Al Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Tavros:

I wanted to respond to your post regarding network "difficulties" in the New York City/Long Island area. I am a Nextel user in this particular area and have found none of your aforementioned problems. I have been using Nextel's digital service for almost a year now and still find it to be a far superior system to the old analog system. Furthermore, it has a significant competitive advantage over its' cellular competitors with its' business band features (i.e., two-way radio/group talk).
My company currently utilizes over 50 Nextel radios, and we are linked with three other companies in the NYC area which puts our grand total of radios in use to over 100. To date, we have found no such problems as your friends described. Personally, I have spoken with co-workers, out in Montauk while they were in Manhattan with crystal clear sound quality. Additionally, from Roslyn, New York, to Southington, Connecticut, I have crystal clear communication with my office and co-workers. I will check with my sales representative regarding the allegations made by your friends since I have never experienced the problems they described in this area.

Regards,
Darin
