I agree with your point about Romney owning the Ryan budget issues if he picks Ryan. But, as for him picking Portman, I have absolutely no idea what he'll do. My guess is he will try to go some distance toward pleasing the right wing of the party. He needs their enthusiasm for get out the vote stuff. And he certainly doesn't help on that score himself.

That argument suggests Portman and Pawlenty will not be picked. But I haven't the foggiest, in any serious sense.

Yes, but now he needs the excite the base even more than he did just yesterday. Which is why I have swung to the belief that he will choose Rubio rather than Portman, although my own personal favorite order of those three would be Ryan, Portman, Rubio.

Yeah, I think Ryan would be way to defining and risky for the Mittster, who seems to want no one to know who he is or what he stands for, other than not being Obama, of course.
