Post says Silver Wheaton praised for HudBay deal

2012-08-10 09:45 ET - In the News

Also In the News (C-HBM) HudBay Minerals Inc

The Financial Post reports in its Friday edition that Silver Wheaton is winning plenty of praise for its $750-million deal to buy silver and gold streams on the 777 and Constancia projects belonging to HudBay Minerals (all figures U.S.). The Post's Peter Koven, writing in Trading Desk, says the 777 mine is already in production, while Constancia is in development. Dan Rollins of RBC Capital Markets found that the transaction is accretive on a number of key metrics, providing an internal rate of return of 8.8 per cent at current metal prices. "Further shareholder value is likely to be generated through exploration success at both 777 [history of reserve replacement] and Constancia [potential for satellite deposits]," he wrote in a note. Mr. Rollins also expects to see more deals down the road, noting that Silver Wheaton should end the year with over $800-million in cash and $400-million of undrawn credit. Andrew Kaip at BMO wrote that production from 777 will boost his estimated earnings per share for Silver Wheaton by 5 per cent in 2012 (to $1.69) and 10 per cent in 2013 (to $2.11). TD Newcrest analyst Daniel Earle figures the HudBay is better than doing one with Inmet Mining on Cobre Panama.

I am hoping so. Go juniors. I just listened to this webcast from HL at Jefferies Global:

investors.hecla-mining.com

HL has a lot going for it IMO so happy with the large short position and dislike by the community compared to FR for instance. A chart shows it may have bottomed.

They have a decent growth pattern for the next few years. They hedge a portion of their by product which I think it good and they have managed that well. Huge cash flow and cash on hand.

It was mentioned in the broadcast they may look at USA again down the road but will not over pay.
