must b a mistake... amat only traded 4.3M today a 3.9M block would imply trading 400K rest of day which is pretty unlikely

What you saw wasn't a block trade, it was the total cumulative volume up to that point in time. There's no way a trade for 3+Mil shares went off in today's volume. Internet trader does this once in a while when for some reason the server goes off line.
