LindyBill, respectfully,

“And when you guys go over there, you are acting as trolls.” So, separate but equal?

There are message board services, such as Yahoo, that offer closed membership groups. In my opinion, one of the things that always made SI interesting was that it was relatively open. There were trolls, of course, but they were trolls because of their behavior -- disruptive and personally disrespectful posting -- not because of where they turned up, because they were “liberals”, “conservatives”, “Republicans”, “Democrats”, “wingnuts”, etc., who were caught crossing ideological borders on SI. And, there is always the ignore feature. And peer pressure is also available to keep the discourse constructive. And, then, finally, there is banning, presumably as a last resort. (Why ban someone whom you can simply ignore?)

Prometheus1976 is clearly not a troll, in action or demeanor. The posts he made on the board he was banned from were on-topic and contributory. The action of the moderator on that board was not, in my opinion, anything that was necessary to maintain the constructive, civil flow of interaction on that board between members in good standing in the SI community. To the contrary, I think it was narrow minded, rude, diminishing to the SI community, and not something that deserves a pat on the back.

But, that's just my opinion. (Did I mention that there’s an ignore feature?)

As well S I should....let me make several points, the same ones i am making to the admin.

1- i bot a lifetime membership which entitles me to all the services S I offers. This includes the right to read any thread i choose,to send private messages, and to post on any thread that i wish as long as i am respectful and not a "troll'..

2- i resent being labeled a troll both by her for using my purchased membership as it was designed ,and also by you as though by the simple act of posting both here and there means anything at all.Keep your silly war between yourselves.

3-My posts there were on a topic being actively discussed, cordial, and informative.I was actually thanked by another poster for some info i provided...

4- i really resent her stating on her site, and linked to my name, that i am a troll when obviously i am not..i am insulted and with no opportunity to respond publicly.

5-she is a Moderator, not an owner, and is certainly not entitled to censor and denigrate the entire S I membership...if she doesn't want paid members posting there then her thread should be removed.

Lindy Bill, this is a good place that you have here, and you do a lot of work on it.I appreciate it and thank you for that...,and I have tried to add some info and thoughts..if you any criticism please say so.We can discuss it either here or by PM.

My position is that no moderator has the right to act capriciously,or to use S I as their personal fiefdom to the detriment of paid S I members..

Repectfully,Prometheus1976

Did you look at p1976 two posts on the VFC, he was talking to cognito about assisted suicide, which was an on going discussion there. Cognito even thanked p1976 for some links. Then BAM X bans him, the only reason I can see is she said who is this guy, looked at his profile and saw he had posted on your thread.

that's no reason to ban someone and he's a paying member. that's wrong
