I tell you the picture is not pretty.

Your opinion, is of one man, for governments, "relative balance of living standards are very very relevant. And they are, well, the power. No matter what you personally think, as a person, one must consider "relative balance of living standards.

My personal opinion is much more in touch with reality. Namely because Keynes: "the sum of all consumption, investment, government spending and net exports — drives stability, and that government can and should help in difficult times."
