I don't get it. By any logic, Obama should be considered the center. There are people to the left of him and there are people to the right of him - ergo - Obama occupies the center.

Obama is defining himself as the centrist - only people don't seem to grasp what he is trying to tell them. But, I am optimistic, people will get it - the sooner the better.



I think you are right about Obama being in the center, but I am not wildly optimistic about the majority of people coming to see this as so.

Right wingers cannot label Obama as left wing since the left wing is against Obama. There is no Center left and if they label Obama as Center, they would be paying him a compliment. So what do they do? Paint him as un-American, someone who was not born here, does not believe in capitalism ( you didn't build that) etc. etc.
