There is no single solution. Better spending is part of it. I'd spend that 300B I'd cut from defense on all the usual green suspects. You'd be surprised by how many jobs would be created for people horny to buy new cars and houses made by newly employed workers eager to spend money in pizza parlors staffed by formerly unemployed stockbrokers.

More properly, you should say that anybody who wants to try the policies which failed in 1981 and in 1988 and in 2000 thinking it will now work is, by definition, insane. When they say they don't like the policies which worked between '92 and Y2K, well, that's foolish.
