T Bowl, I printed a copy of a Lehman report dated 10-29-97, which was titled "Highlights of Some Key Issues/Opportunities in Technology. Companies: HWP, TXN, QNTM, AMAT." I didn't save the electronic version.

Under "Personal Computers", their recommendation was Quantum (QNTM, $ 34 5/16, Rated 1 by Kimberly Alexy). Only comments were:

Insulated from PC price pressure (but disk drive price pressure is a risk). Favorable trends in tape drives. Would benefit from transition from UNIX to Windows NT.

The last report specific to QNTM I don't have anymore, but I do recall that Ms. Alexy said that they will be watching closely to see if pricing pressures creep up into the mid-range sized DD. I would guess this would be the ~4GB size. As of that report, QNTM was not seeing abnormal pricing pressure in this range. So, that's where the risk is for QNTM.
