Horst and Lindblum are giving hope--Horst era now 1.12 in reliefW-L1-0ERA1.13K18Walks6WHIP1.13--we traded Valdes for him---it might well pay-off--he won that 8-7 game with two shutdown innings Lindblum was i think the primary piece in Victorino rental--plus we got a couple prospects.
Bastardo? It's all about control--he just lost that consistency--but i agree with Manuel, there know question he has as they say "stuff".
Lindblum is just 25, he has real potential.
Also Kendrick had something 13 scoreless inning in relief before was returned to starter--i feel Phils need MAKE Kendrick a relief pitcher ONLY he get jerk around far too much--i think if he was a reliever and ONLY a reliever-he could work out.
But we still don't have a "killer" set-up man, the job Madsen served at spendidly.(My understanding his contract with Reds was for one year at 10 million dollars.
As far as i know Madsen is free agent again next year, and as he is now damaged goods, we might take him back---but with his coming off Tommy John Surgery, he will have to have a throwing session with Phils, who can judge his arm better than anyone in MLB.
The word is Phils are ready to splurge this winter.
i had frankly no idea of Pierre's career stats---he has been a fine player for years, including 582 stolen bases is 12 years and lifetime BA af .296
o yeh Pirates signed Qualls and in jis first game he gave up 5 hits and 4 runs one inning

Giants season has had a huge blow " Melky Cabrera just delivered a huge jolt to the dog days of August with the shocking news that he's being suspended for 50 games after testing positive for testosterone.
Major League Baseball announced the punishment for the reigning All-Star MVP on Wednesday afternoon and it is effective immediately."

Well so much for Lindblum--he looked AWFUL. And Manuel--think Lee might want slug him. Top of 8th: Franksen makes two base error--man on 2nd, Lee retires next two, man still on 2nd--and Manuel, because Braun has hit 2 Hrs off of Lee in game assumes Lee will give him a third--yeh. So he takes the ball away from Lee, and Lindblum comes in, walks the first two batters and then gives up a Grandslam--neat. and so score goes from 4-3 to 7-4.
Lee huge problem this year is the long ball--how many times has this happened; Lee 12Ks/ Zero walks 5 hits and 3 earned runs in 7.2 innings, in which the 3 earned runs were 3 bases empty HRs. So here he is now 2-7 with a 3.84 ERA--he needs watch some film--how do you strikeout 12, walk none , but give up 3 solo HRs. What a nightmare season for Lee.
Cripes when Manuel took out Lee with him ahead, you KNEW Lindblum would blow it---it's almost a guarantee:)Max

Blanton gave up 8 runs in 4.1 innings tonight, he is now 0-2 with Dodgers.
