Daily Kos Engenders “Atmosphere of Hatred” Against Family Research Council
With today’s terrible shooting at the Family Research Council, and the lack of media coverage, it behooves us to remember how the media framed other such events in American history. JFK is shot by a Communist – “culture of hate” in Dallas against democrats.) Gabby Giffords was shot by an insane madman and the Media blamed Sarah Palin. The Batman movie shooting was also caused by a crazy madman, and ABC’s Brian Ross immediately pins it on the Tea Party.

What happens when a group advocating Christian values is singled out for a shooting massacre?

Barely a trickle of press.

If we applied the same principle they apply to shootings to the left, we’d no doubt find plenty to blame, including the headline above at Daily Kos, the leftwing hate group that calls the Tea Party the “American Taliban” on a regular basis, even though, they probably believe Christians and Tea Partiers are much worse than the Taliban.

Here are some inflammatory sections from the article [emphasis added]:

Well, it’s a radical country where a guy can put his head on another guy’s shoulder on a trolley for two seconds and not face public execution for it, which sounds pretty good to me. I understand some people are working to change that, though.

Accusing the FRC of wanting gays to be publicly executed.

All of those people, though, are people whose mere presence pisses Tony Perkins off. His branding would be more like “America: We won’t stone you for having different beliefs, but trust me, we’re working on it.” And trust me, they’re working on it.

They refer to Muslims and Hindus, so they accuse the FRC of wanting Muslims and Hindus to be stoned. Amazingly, they don’t have much anger over people in the Middle East who are actually doing such things. Only those they imagine to be advocating such when they’re not.

Ah, well. Personally, I think it’s probably all right if we keep making tourism ads for America, and Tony Perkins can contract out to make some nice tourism videos for Afghanistan or Iran. Think it over, Tony, I think you’d be pretty damn good at it!

Aren’t they clever?

Doesn’t take much to think someone could read this kind of rhetoric and believe the FRC so evil that they need to be taught a lesson. But that would be jumping to conclusions, and that only works when it’s against Christians and the Tea Party.

Don’t believe me? Newsbusters documents how Huffington Post continued to smear the Family Research Council by calling it a hate group 3 hours after the shooting.

Given that this seems to be a politically motivated attack you might expect a response from our presidential candidates. Mitt Romney has released a statement decrying the shooting. What’s the latest from the Obama team? Try this:

Awesome! Fighting Obama’s Amnesty, AZ Gov Jan Brewer Blocks IDs, Benefits for Illegal Immigrants
Under Obama’s executive order amnesty, not only do the foreign nations (a much better term, and accurate term suggested by a Tweep) get work permits, they also get drivers licenses. Governor Brewer takes a stand and illustrates what a governor can do to fight this amnesty outrage. If Obama thinks he can unleash a scortched earth policy in every single state, he just got a message that’s not going to happen. Especially sweet? She’s blocking this dangerous nonsense in the same fashion Obama delivered it–through an executive order The more we can keep this at bay until after Romney is inaugurated, the easier it will be to reverse.

Via ABC 15.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed an executive order directing state agencies to deny driver’s licenses and other public benefits to young illegal immigrants who obtain work authorizations under a new Obama administration program.

After the order was issued, supporters of the program and the DREAM Act took to the streets of Phoenix in protest. Video from Air15 showed the protesters carrying signs and walking down Central Avenue toward the State Capitol.

Brewer’s Wednesday order says she’s reaffirming the intent of current Arizona law denying taxpayer-funded public benefits and state identification to illegal immigrants.

Young illegal immigrants could start applying Wednesday with the federal government for work permits under the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

The program defers deportations for young illegal immigrants if they meet certain criteria.
Brewer’s order says the program’s federal paperwork doesn’t confer lawful status on illegal immigrants and won’t entitle them to Arizona public benefits.

She directs state agencies to start emergency rulemaking processes as necessary to implement her order.
