Once upon a time my husband and my father started a business processing salmon off shore in Alaska. The first boat they outfitted was ready to go..........or so they thought. When they finally arrived at the fishing grounds they ran into some mechanical problems with some of the equipment.........to be expected on the first run. They stayed up way past 70 hours fixing the machines...............72 to be exact. My dad gave up first and went to bed after 52 hrs. The engineer and my husband slogged on and finished their work. My husband slept for over 24 hours after that. So if you don't think people stay up and work long hours when they own their own business and want to make a go of it you are mistaken.

Years ago, I would work 36 hours straight in my small business when deadlines dictated. It takes a lot of energy. Some doctors work those kinds of hours as well. It is not that unusual.

when I first got my company going I got two new 'big' clients. they both had projects at almost the same time and they had to be open for the christmas school break.

my crew and i had already put in like 12 straight 14 hour days when we had to finish one job and start the next.

So we started that day at 6 AM worked until we finished at 11 pm, got in the truck and drove from VA to Syracuse NY, where we got in around 6AM, pulled into the job site unloaded the truck and worked until 10 PM that night.

I can't tell you how many times I have done that
