Worth mentioning that a mere 1% rise in interest rates will add $160 billion dollars annually to that figure. One of the reasons US is in such a box. Not hard to envision the need to raise interest rates to attract capital to cover America's "over spending", ie offer higher rates on US Treasuries. If interest rates rise just to 5%, carry cost to America will be $800 billion a year!...single largest line item in the (non existent) budget. No one on the planet will be hurt worse by rising interest rates than America.
