Wouldn't a pistol be better?

If you have to use a gun, you will be in a panic and probably not be a good shot. A shotgun gives you a better chance of hitting someone and is scarier if you are just waving it. Coming out of the bedroom into the rest of the house you definitely are in a better situation with a shotgun.

Most "survivalists" get a place in the hills. I think you are better off where you are most comfortable. If you grew up on a farm you would be used to it, but as most of us are city dwellers, I suggest you stay with what you know. For instance, I live in a locked low rise condo. I have some familiarity with my neighbors and we would no doubt band together in a riot or other emergency. No small group of low-life's would bother us. OTOH, that is precisely the type of group that would come after an isolated dwelling occupier.

I really don't expect it to get that bad. If the Left continues to win, sooner or later we will be in a "Euro" type of society. You want to know what will happen? Look at France. It's not that bad, but we wouldn't enjoy it.

A pistol and a shotgun is even better.
