HEXonX,

I agree that in most instances site configurations can be performed remotely by dialing in or by telneting into the device, but it has been my experience that customers want a live warm body onsite to perform most operating code upgrades or at least have a local contingency plan.

Cheers,

Steve

>>Ever try Out of band Modems to the COM or AUX port?
That would be a trick...since the routers are still on their pallets. ;-)
Ever hear of yet-to-be-configured racks that have not been shipped to the customer yet? I guess that you wave your magic HEXen wand and it get's done automagically?<VBG>
Or perhaps you have never heard of classified systems? Only a fool would put analog modems on a closed system...crypto or not.
Hows that shoe-leather taste (as in foot-in-mouth)?

>>You must be a contractor or working for a small mom/pop ISP.
The world does not survive on ISPs alone...in this case it is a private intranetwork...and BTW...when is the last time you saw a mom+pop operation with 3 loaded 7513s (about 500K)???
Now how about seconds? I hear that the second shoe goes down extra smooth for you big-head types. ;-)
And besides, I'll work for anyone (including mom+dad) who is willing to fork out $105/hr+expenses.
