Good Morning Chris: I havent seen the brochure that WSP has put out concerning the methodology of target identification at Snap Lake. I can only comment on my experience with GPS. We use at least my fishing partner and I have used a hand held GPS unit when fishing the waters of Lake Michigan. It will pinpoint your location and is a navigatory tool in determining where one is in the vast expanses of the lake. I suspect combining GPS with a sonar unit would be an excellent tool for correlating bottom contours such as circular depressions and basins within Snap Lake and slightly eroded kimberlites. Of interest to note that GPS is not a new developement and has been used in target definition on the Kalahari sands of Botswanna. Establishing geophsical grids and pinpointing targets with only fly overs and sampling and mag surveys in Botswana alone due to the shifting nature of the sands and the depth of the kimberlites would be difficult to further pinpoint without GPS technology for target refinement. In other words., when the results of all the work leading up to target definition may span several months., it is convenient to know these targets can be redefined with pinpoint accuracy by verifying GPS positions before and after. In the case of Winspear., the proof in the pudding so to speak., must be in target definition. In other words., they must combine bottom lake sampling., contour mapping of the lake bottom and GPS would aid transferring that information to target refinement. PS: Chris., Barry is one of the most humble players of all times., his actions speak louder than words., he will surpass Walter Payton., as the most prolific running back in NFL history provided he stays healthy and you know it couldnt happen to a better human being. Have a nice day Chris.
