Obama's bio put out by his publisher had him listed as being born in kenya. The bio was revised numerous times over several years and yet the "born in kenya" factoid remained in the bio. Obama created the situation where is birthplace can be called in question. I believe that he was born in Hawaii and that he lied about his birthplace at a variety of points in his life to capitalize on the "foreign born" status.

It boils down to: he lied about his birthplace to become president or he lied about his birthplace to get the benefits of being from being foreign (student aid, university admittance, exotic author). Either way he lied and it isn't anybody's fault, but his own, that people call his citizenship into question.
