Interestingly, I know Ken Murray (the author of that article). Great guy, great views. Lots of respect for him. He's very active in the hiking world. Gives seminars on hiking Mt Whitney, volunteers a lot for trail maintenance in the Sierras, etc.... That article has been published in several publications and it has been interesting to see how widespread and popular it has become. (nothing else of any substance to add to the conversation, just bringing up the connection).
