Haim, you're forgetting the fact that gold is a consensus store of value, that national reserves are made up of bullion ( and therefore nations seek it) and that it is a status symbol when used in jewelry. The consensus that gold is valuable is powerful, historically driven and unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. Your logic is impeccable. The world's experience trumps it, however.
