"Greenstein is taking the sensible position that the 2001 recession seems mild enough that Keynesian tax cuts will not be needed -- by the time their stimulative effect kicks in, the economy should be growing again. Hassett, the conservative, replies that Keynesian fiscal policy during recessions works, and the only problem is that it's usually too small. And Ryan agrees!"

It's what some of us have been saying for quite a while, and koan a bit longer than that..."it's too damn small". Where was Paul when we needed him?

I thought the first guy was Greenspan, and I was gonna point out that he and Ryan courted the same Russian atheist lady, and that Greenspan once said, "Ayn and I were wrong; you can't prevail upon the better nature of mankind to do the right thing", but it turns out the name is Greenstein, so I won't. Somebody else might want to, tho, now that I've mentioned it.
