that's funny

I have a neighbor that is mainlining fox news

born and raised in palos verdes a couple blocks back from the beach

his great, great grandfather traded for 10k acres in arkansas in 1855 which is still in the hands of many relatives
He and his doctor brother still have 1,200 acres which they have never put a shovel into personally

at a 4th party he was bragging to me that he gets $8,000/ac for the scrub land not to plant a thing. the rest is share cropped out

I said, "So yo want to get rid of that welfare, right?"

he went off on how the feds were saving the "family farms" by giving out billions in farm subsidies

this from a guy that has never farmed in his life. essentially a surf bum

If they were micromanaging your life, you'd have a bathroom schedule you'd have to follow, as well as a curfew and "lights out", and patient compliance on meds would be 100% instead of "poor". If they weren't managing it all, you would have a car crash the first time you tried to drive thru a busy intersection, and patient compliance would still be "poor". We're somewhere in between.

"People who don't equate "patriotism" to "agreement with whatever the government says because I happen to belong to that political party." "
Real patriots equate patriotism with being there despite disagreeing with what the government is doing. Paying taxes for Nam while protesting the war; paying taxes for Iraq while protesting the war, etc.
There has been no greater act of post Civil War dispatriotism , and no greater attack on the institution of democracy itself, than a gang of disgruntled losers getting together the night of the inauguration and saying "We will send this country to hell before we'll let Obama have a second term". No Brummer, that is not a direct quote.
