I agree. But most of what they buy from us is aspirational and have value added Brand recognition. That translates into higher margins and jobs that require higher skills that pay higher wages.

On the other hand we will begrudgingly buy stuff from them cheap and low margin stuff that will provide our lower income population a higher standard of living.

Just as an example , off the top of my head, we will sell Apple iPhones at $200. We will let them provide parts and labor which comes to about $20. The balance $180 will go into jobs that remain in the US for R&D, Marketing, and distribution. And, then of course there is some dollars left over called profit.
