You are correct and President Obama (and all of us) should be grateful for that. Think of what shape we'd be in if he was permitted to apply his solutions to problems that he could not properly assess.

The Republicans were elected in 2010 for that express purpose .... to stop him from implementing flawed solutions to problems that even he admits he could not recognize.

Wrong. The stimulus plan passed to keep unemployment below 8% was not obstructed. It was a poorly conceived plan.
