I think the US military realized that it is vulnerable to stateless terrorists, a nail it's hammer just can't hit. Sure, we killed Osama, when he was no longer a threat. The solution is complete knowledge of every person's activities on Earth, which our steadily advancing computers and databases may allow them to achieve. I see the next big thing in this form of attack as being a bio-attack, with an engineered virus. You don't need big tech to do this, just a kitchen and the necessary knowledge, now available on the internet. It's just waiting on a smart enough terrorist. en.wikipedia.org Watch for it!
