Homicides, gang violence on the rise this summer in Portland Published: Friday, July 20, 2012, 7:19 PM Updated: Friday, July 20, 2012, 8:45 PM The violence has driven the Rose City's homicide count to 19 so far this year, compared to the 22 in all of last year, and 28 in 2010. Police were called to 72 gang-related violence calls as of Friday, up from 54 at this time last year. What's particularly disturbing, say gang enforcement officers, is there have been three homicides since July 12 with gang connections that occurred in different parts of the city. oregonlive.com
