" Although that may be true for drug addicts, it is certainly not true for law-abiding citizens who cooperate with police officers during encounters, as required under the law."

That's an illusion. There are a lot of cases of going to the wrong address etc.

Many times there are no warnings at all. They just start shooting.

What would you do if you suddenly awoke to see masked armed men in your home? If you are like anyone else you might think to quietly arm yourself. Before you could be discovered by them.

Lights are still off .. what next?

Every officer will state "I was afraid .."

To the public, it is a statement of cowardliness.

Either they lack the ability or training to handle themselves hand to hand.

They should feel shame every time they make that confession. I blame the training these officers receive. The policies of the departments teach they should use deadly force from a safe distance. Not to rely upon their hand to hand training from the department.

Many in the public see our current generation of law enforcement as whimps hiding from the public behind tanks, masks helments and shields. And these officers will resort to pleading whimpism to justify using deadly force.

No one will ever know who fired the first shot. Because the blue shield instantly went up and everyone emptied their weapons. All brothers sharing the weight of the situation.

That sharing is an automatic response. To protect each other. And cover up evidence in a homicide.
Covering possible criminal activities of a brother in blue as a reflex. Might have something to do with the training.

Then there's the video stuff.

Gee wizz .. the cameras were broken ..
It doesn't take much to imagine tapes being rewound and then erased. But these honest joes wouldn't do something shaky to protect their brothers, now would they?

See otherwise it would have been a premeditated event. Where they knew there was a possibility of an "event." So they decided to not produce evidence. Not sure what they call something like that .. except illegal.

Or .. which I think is more likely, is that they knowingly destroyed evidence for a homicide investigation.

Now if these officers were reasonably in fear for themselves, get the phys ed class going. Time to fire up the PT.

I agree with that but put the evidence on your side and at least record the conversations and if you can get it, the video too. There is no expectation of privacy on a public street or at somebody's home or on their property. Wiretap laws are not applicable. And if you are afraid of that, make a close but not exact transcript of the conversation.
