The Middle Class Falls Further Behind

The middle class is struggling to survive and shrinking before our eyes, the Pew Research Center reported on Wednesday.

"America's middle class has endured its worst decade in modern history," the Pew Research Center said in its report: The Lost Decade of the Middle Class - Fewer, Poorer, Gloomier. "It has shrunk in size, fallen backward in income and wealth, and shed some -- but by no means all -- of its characteristic faith in the future."

Globalization, under the fantasy of "Free trade" has been championed under Democrats and Republicans, converting $30.00 an hour jobs in the U.S. to $2.00 an hour jobs in China. Not to mention the environmental destruction.

Tariffs were maligned, incorrectly in my view, in the 1930's. We should put up tariff barriers to level the playing field.

Would be interesting to put policy initiatives on that scale

For instance, the acceleration in incarceration data probably parallels the "war on drugs" and the surge in lockups for marijauna related "crimes"

A further breakdown, would probably show that this initiative, like so many, would correspond to policy manipulation by monied interests gaining control of policy makers in order to advance their profit making agendas

The data is veiled, but how much have the alcohol, tobacco and pharmaceutical companies paid to criminalize use of the relatively harmless, but cheap, alternate recreational substance to protect profits and discourage research
