the evil of statism is worse and that's what we got. now we will all be slaves to the state

slavery had been around (and still is) for over a million years.

the south would have given it up over time with machinery, the slaves didn't work hard enough to pay for their expenses. That's the only reason the north gave them up, short growing season, wasn't worth feeding them and keeping them warm the rest of the year
