Yes, you and I are aligned on the need to cease and desist all war mongering in this country. My premise has always been a simple one. It's not just the moral costs of wars, but the fiscal costs as well. We spend $700B a year on our military apparatus as per our acknowledge budgetary spend. Then we spend another $150-200B per year in Emergency Appropriations and dark pools of cash that go to the military complex. So we could easily afford to cut $400B per year out of our military and still spend more than almost every other country in the world.

Paul Ryan made a good start by recommending we cut $50B per year over 10 years from the military, but he seems to be walking that back now that he's joined Romney. Too bad, but then again, maybe it's just electioneer posturing, just as Obama did when he was running.

BTW, military spending under Obama has decreased, despite more success in our military objectives under his Presidency, such as killing Osama Bin Laden. So he's better on this issue in my book...
