We probably agree that everyone should be required to speak English but we are probably motivated by different reasons but let's leave that go for now. You might be interested to know that in Europe, essentially everyone speaks English (at lest in the technical world), even the clerks in stores in Paris. It gives them one step up on those of us from the good old USA. I was always a little embarrassed that I couldn't speak their language. Most also speak German and French and a couple of other languages. They all seem to lean young.

However, an ability to speak our language shouldn't have a influence one’s humanity. They don't find it necessary because we accommodate them to take advantage of the cost of their labor and their consumption.
