What I took from the review's I've read is that the book documents a structural class change both due to the changing economic climate (no longer possible for 1 HS grad to support a family) and culture mores (out of wedlock births have become socially acceptable to a degree) and this is working a permanent type of social rearrangement in America---that will have long range negative effects. If that IS what the book is about with valid data then I think politicians should be talking about what is at stake here for our future.
