I don't think you had a lot of sweetness and light in the 70s. Kept reading about Officers being afraid to go into the barracks alone.


I was a US Army commissioned officer for every day of the 1970s. In that decade I served 6.5 years overseas.
I served 3 years (all overseas) as an A Team Commander and 3 1/2 years (18 months overseas) as a Company Commander of three different companies. I commanded men of all races and neither saw nor heard about any of that.

In my last company command I also had about 20 women. Never had a racial or sexist problem there either.
