"Awarding a patent to the rectangular shape and rounded edges of the iPhone is the most insulting and degrading sign of an idiotic society consumed by the desire of extorting money from whoever they can, no matter the means."

OMG... the shape of the phone was one of the 'issues' ... ??

I'm old enough to remember 8-track tapes. Anybody ever notice how the cartridges from different companies were slightly different? A queer notch here or an indentation there where it had no effect on anything? Those oddities were to keep from being sued by whomever came up with the original one, to make the shape slightly different.

I also have never liked Apple as a corporation and have never bought a single product from them. I can't say a decision like this warms me up to them at all.

In the Seattle Times, they have an article today about how this decision will probably benefit Nokia and Microsoft, if they can come up with the goods anyway, since they have a platform independent of the Android.

Google has done a lot of stuff amazingly well, and they do innovate. Hopefully that won't be snuffed out, ala Atlas Shrugged.
