Thank you Arthur, - The annual "Friday after Thanksgiving" sales numbers have come in for the retailling industry. They were up 2.2% over the Friday after Thanksgiving in 1996. Also Telecheck has forecasted total Christmas sales within the retailling industry to be up 3-4% over last year's Christmas sales.

This bodes well for AMES over the balance of the holiday season, considering that Hanukah falls on 12/24/97 this year, so it is possible that stores will remain busy through the end of the year.

The Southington, CT store was doing very good business on Friday, (11/28/97), with the parking lot ~ 75% filled at 2:30 pm. Store was very-well inventoried, and most shoppers were carrying bags.
