The article displays an acknowledgement that China cannot do "trade as an equivalent of war". The westerner has learned the coopetition, whereby, they compete here and cooperate there. The Chinese is slowly feeding back to the planning echelons back in China that they need to fine tune their strategies. Japan did not need change from inside (their time came middle 80s to do it). China is has gone too far beyond the point of no return. The changing from inside thing will play a major role. It is now: quantity of fuel and load on board, tail or head wind, thrust of the engines and ability of those in control. Plus gravity of course. The defining moment, will come. It will pass, and observes will know it only after that defining moment has passed already.
