that about sums it up...in addition, the guy appears to be only an
employee of the company...& what's his motive ? we all know people
on this thread have a reputation for the "tar & feathers" treatment
to ANY adverse opinion, and suddenly everyone is going out of their
way to be "fair"...the bells and whistles on the tech side are
about irrelevant anyway

Though some would say David was a little blunt, I think he brought up a good point and one that might have been smoldering amongst others on this list. Atin (and others like him)does work for the competition and having worked in the corporate world, I would say that there is a very slim chance that Atin would ever portray FTEL as a better or even equal product than those of his company, without jeapordizing his own job standing. However, to build credibility, kudos to competitors can get very close to the line.

That's not to say that his comments are without merrit; he is very knowlegable and as a result gains much credibility among others on this board. Just remember that he's PROBABLY going to use that knowlege to justify his bias against any potentially strong competitor, including FTEL. Keep his posts in perspective. Just because he says something doesn't make it an absolute TRUTH in this industry. He may not appreciate my post but on the other hand, he might openly agree with me.

That said, Atin's and other contrarian posts serve as a valuable balance against what I might get from true believers ($200/sh?), 1-800-Franklin and others. It's like shopping around different stores for a TV; you find out real fast about the other guy's problems.

Again, anything that can be said to maintain perspective is valuable to all. Doing so may offend some but that's life folks. Another $0.02.

Jim

Don't worry David, opinions without any reasoning/facts are worth exactly the chicken by-products you mentioned. I hope I don't make any statements I cannot base on technological facts I have infered from the research I have done. I have yet to see anything from you that actually added to the amount of knowledge available on this thread (except for your opinions about people writing on this thread - which I am sure no one actually cares about). But, again, to each his own. I'm long on FTEL too, just not in the amounts that you might be.

I do work for the competition, and that gives me a unique perspective on the things I should feel threatened about from the competition and the things I don't worry about. FTEL doesn't worry me yet as a competitor and I don't foresee a time soon where it will - and so I state my position to counter some of the hype that occurs here. I want SI to be a place where people can come to get a balanced perspective on companies that us small-investors can make money on and that's what I try to do here. I don't knock FTEL stock because I do think they have a place, I just don't think their Tempest is the killer DVG in the marketplace that is going to kill off everyone else.

Good luck,

-Atin
