OT to Gary A refurb will have some old parts. But presumably, these are the ones least likely to wear out. Nevertheless, psychologically, I feel any product has a higher than normal probability of failure in the first month. In such cases, I prefer to buy from a local merchant who will take it back or exchange it free of charge. Thus I think Fry's is an excellent way to buy the refurb'd Jaz, since you have 30 days to return it due to failure. Longer if you buy their "performance guarantee" (which I don't.) So my rec is, buy the refurb Jaz, and try to break it through heavy use (but not physical abuse). If it survives 30 days, great, you have a winner. If it fails, take it back and exchange it, if you feel like messing with it a second time. If you get a second dud, definitely reevaluate the purchase and decide whether you want to try a new one, or just forget the whole thing. The above is my general approach to tech toy purchases. I do not mean to imply in any way that Jaz (refurbished or new) has a greater than normal frequency of failure.
