That is one of the many accomplishments Obama will get to highlight in his speech next week; how government has made a real, positive difference to so many. It won't get him votes in LA or MS but the message will resonate in the key swing states. And it has the added virtue of being 100% true, unlike Ryan and Romney's main themes. Whoever cleared off on Ryan teeing off on Simpson-Bowles after he voted it down was a moron.
