Perhaps this will help just a bit.

SparQ does not come with a cartridge, so the minimum price for 1 Gig worth of storage is $238. Not that far from the cost of the refurbished Jaz, which does come with a disk.

Of course, the additional SparQ disks are 1/3 the price of Jaz disks. However, I expect that Iomega will reduce prices for Jaz media if SparQ takes off. They'll have to. And if SparQ doesn't take off, you wouldn't want to be stuck with one.

On the third hand, though, I have to admit that 33 bucks a gig is pretty tempting. If I didn't already have a Jaz drive, and wasn't concerned with being able to transport data between systems (my office has standardized on Jaz) then I would definitely consider getting a SparQ.
