You hit it right on when you said that

The internet is a NARROWCAST medium

If anyone hasn't read George Gilder's Life after Television I would encourage you to do so. The book is a great read for those that love technology.

The internet is the death of BROADCASTERS......Look at books....there is how many? Millions.....each book targets a very narrow segment of the population.....the network affiliates, by definition, are broadcasters and don't have specialized info.....This is one of the reasons why Cable T.V. took off in the 80's....ESPN, MTV, now Food T.V, Home and gardening, etc....

We have gone from 5 stations in the 50's to hundreads now with satellite T.V. The internet allows for an explosion in highly specific information. If the end user can find a way to get this information broadcast to them they will do so.

Don't get me wrong, General news isn't dead....just declining.....I still need my dosage of the world in general but I like going to SI and chatting....Getting my portfolio.....Watching ESPN....finding out stats whenever I want to......

Just wait folks......we ain't seen nothing yet......

Where does AOL lie in all this.....they are simply an introduction to the INTERNET.....once you learn, you leave......You can find better info elsewhere without the haggle......

Just a question before i leave,

Anyone know how many people graduate each year from college? They get free access to the web.
