AOL customers who by definition already use E-mail for anything further away than two blocks will buy their service--now there's a man with more hope than brains.

Keep in mind that one of Casablanca's features is supposed to be tight integration of voice with the AOL client software. Who is going to pay Tel-Save 9 cents a minute when they can talk by iPhone (or similar technology) over AOL's network for "free"?

In my pessimistic moments, my guess is that if nobody ever signs up for Tel-Save, all the parties involved have more than recovered their "investment". I've also wondered how much (if any) of the $100 million was actually money due to Tel-Save from AOL... (Tel-Save's largest phone switch just so happens to be in Jacksonville, FL, which coincidentally happens to be the location of one of AOL's main customer support centers. I don't know if they had a previous business relationship, but it does make sense)
